We came, we listened, we schmoozed – and we
drank beer, too.
The first EWF Books & Beer was a fun
evening of chatting with each other and author Brad Smith while munching on
snacks and, of course, quaffing a few Wellington Brewery beauties.
In other words, if you weren’t there, you
missed out. You missed hearing Brad reading from his first Virgil Cain mystery,
Red Means Run, both in book and
screenplay format. You missed EWF’s Dave Beynon leading the Q&A in which
Brad revealed some skeletons in his closet as well as insider experiences
working on the film production of his novel All
Hat. We laughed. We cried. (Well, maybe not the crying part…)
But those of us who gathered at the
historic and charming Drew House in Elora, agree: Books & Beer has to become an annual event. See you
in 2016!
Until then, check out scenes from the
first-ever Books & Beer with author Brad Smith, presented by the Elora
Writers’ Festival and sponsored by Wellington Brewery. (Photos by Dale Mills)
The "stage" at the historic Drew House:
EWF's Jean Mills and Dave Beynon set the scene: "Introducing Brad Smith, a man we believe knows a fair bit about books...and beer."

Brad does all the work, entertaining us with a reading from Red Means Run. You can't see this, but we're all relaxing with munchies and beer.

Intermission! |
Q&A led by EWF's Dave Beynon. Remember, what happens at Books & Beer stays at Books & Beer... (This photo cries out for a caption. Suggestions welcome!)
And then it was schmooze time with Brad. Signing books....

And schmoozing among ourselves too...
