Coming in January: Our first evening of Books & Beer!

It’s a go!

Author Brad Smith, who read at our 2014 Festival, will make a return visit to Elora to share some dark, dry, “country noire” mystery writing with us at The Drew House on Thursday, January 22.

And yes, there will be beer, thanks to Wellington Brewery.

What to expect? A reading and some schmoozing with Brad, and perhaps a little interactive fun for anyone who’s keen, all in the intimate setting of the historic Drew House. In other words, books, beer and people who enjoy both.

Tickets $15, available at Roxanne’s Reflections, 152 St. Andrew St. West, Fergus (519-843-4391). Contact elorawritersfestival@gmail.com for more information.

We hope you can join us to support the 2015 Elora Writers’ Festival.

Planning has begun for Festival 2015!

Yup. We're still catching our breath from our successful Festival 2014, but we can't help ourselves: planning has begun for the 2015 edition of the Elora Writers' Festival.

When, where and - most importantly - who? Still in the planning stages, and we'll let you know, right here, as soon as we can.

But even though those details aren't yet finalized, here are a few upcoming initiatives to get excited about:

Books & Beer

We've been talking to Wellington Brewery about partnering for an evening of interactive literary fun along with a reading by one of our past authors. And some suds, of course. (Words & Wine, for those of you who aren't beer-drinkers.) Still settling some details, but doesn't that sound like a great way to get your literary fix?

Elora Writers' Festival Book Club

Still in the planning stages, but there was lots of interest in this idea when it was suggested at the 2014 Festival. The plan is to read three books from the previous Festival, and three from the upcoming Festival - and meet as a group for discussion and refreshments. We think it's a way of building a reading community around our Festival and promoting Canadian authors, and we hope you do too.

EWF Short Story Contest 2015

Once again we invite creative writers of all ages to send their short stories to our annual contest. And guess what? This year we're going themeless. Choose your topic. Write your heart out. Entry details coming soon!

We're already excited about Elora Writers' Festival 2015. Check back for details about these initiatives and Festival details. Questions? Contact us at elorawritersfestival (at) gmail.com
